“A 23 year old winemaker and English Viticulture it could only go wrong”
Portuguese winemaker António Maçanita and resident English viticulturist consultant, David Booth met for the first time in early 2004. Over the next few months António was learning viticulture with David and a close friendship developed. Next step doing some wine, first wine, first success, with Trophy Alentejo Award by IWC, given the second time in 22 years of competition.
Fitapreta produces wines that reflect the character of our region, but also what we aspire it to be. We are as much about diving deep in our culture and our local grapes varieties, as we are about changing the world with news challenges, new paths and new blends. We produce our wines with absolute sense of responsibility that we have to love them. And hopefully, some people will share our same esthetics for wine and… Who knows… For life.
Alentejo, is a large province in the south of Portugal, lying between the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the arid interior of southern Spain. The combination of 3000 hours of sunshine per year, low summer rainfall and cold nights ensures that grapes ripen fully and produce wines with a distinct fruit character and express a southern warmth and flavor.
